Before Liposuction

  • Consent is obtained. Photographs are taken; the skin is prepared with a disinfectant.
  • A sterile marking pen is used to draw a topographic map of the areas.
  • The patient is placed on sterile drapes and/or towels, and standard local anesthetic is used to infiltrate the skin of the insertion sites.
  • The site is widened and pretunneled into the subcutaneous tissue by using a small, curved hemostat.
During Liposuction:
  • A blunt infusion catheter is then inserted into the site, and tumescent anesthetic is delivered.
  • The liposuction cannula are placed through insertion sites. Suction will be performed by manual or aspirator.
  • Suture the insertion sites immediately postoperatively maybe performed or not allowing for more drainage, less bruising, and less inflammation.
After liposuction:
  • Compression garments and absorptive pads are applied immediately postoperative period from several days to several weeks.
  • The garments actually provide better comfort for many patients.
  • The garment is often decreased as this swelling resolves.
  • Return to physical activities may be within a few days depending on the patient's comfort.
  • Massage will be applied after 4 days to prevent irregularities.
  • A healthy well-balanced diet continues after active results as well as in ensuring excellent healing during the convalescence.


Complications
As any medical procedures, complications are possible but we try our best to make the risk as low as possible.
Postoperative problems

  • Asymmetry
  • Decrease or loss of sensation; parasthesias.
  • Seroma (fluid collection in wound, lymphorrhea).
  • Hematoma, bruising
  • Scar: hypertrophic, keloid
  • Itching, burning; Infection; Skin slough
